may's comicon

Today I was at The Charlotte Comicon. I did some sketches, but as usual with shows may or may not get scans. To be honest I was feeling a little off today. After a busy week, and then the hour and a half drive down to the show I was a little out of sorts mentally. Not to mention that for some reason my blood sugar apparently crashed an hour into the show. So I dumped a small fortune on a candy bar and some trail mix in the hotel lobby. I ended up leaving early and grabbing some dinner, then passed out on the couch for almost 2 hours. The show was well attended and as always well organized. Me on the other hand was not on the top of my game.
About Jon Stewart
by Marty on Wed May 07, 2008 10:51 pm
Been watching the Daily Show a lot lately. I stopped watching it regularly when Craig Kilborn left, but I tend to go back to it around election times because - let's face it - if I want to hear people talk about news and politics, it better be on Comedy Central (or SciFi - but not the StarWars I-III kind). It's impressive how much Stewart has changed the show (and himself, in the process) into a political tour de force. In this election cycle, he has managed to sit down with every major presidential candidate. He has personally interviewed, joked with, and shaken the hand of our next President - on his own terms. That's impressive. Under normal circumstances, for personality compatibility reasons, I don't think I would go across town to meet Stewart for lunch, but he has become a gatekeeper of sorts for the most powerful leaders in the free world. On Comedy Central! You have to hand it to the guy.
FCBD, marvel cards, and conventions

Free comic book day was this past Saturday and it was a veritable den of action! I spent the whole afternoon doing sketches non-stop only coming up for air once when my wife called to see if I was joining the family for dinner. I lost count of the number of sketches, but here are a couple quick ones:
I've also got a few artist proof cards from the Marvel Masterpieces set that I finished.
I've got a little over a month to finish up the graphic novel I'm working on, and I'm hitting three cons in June (Adventurecon, Heroes, and Chicago.) I've also got a few commissions to catch up on as well.. so, back at it.

I will be at Acme comics in Greensboro this afternoon for Free Comic book day. Marty may or may not make it...since he's busy with other obligations. (I think he's building a giant robot in his back 10 acres. But I can't be sure.) Marvel Masterpieces 2008 I'm drowning Best Holiday Wishes COMIC-CON = DENIED view all blog entries...
