Daily Sketch: Cho Chang (Harry Potter)

After a brief lull in doing my themed sketches, I’m back at it.  I’ll plan on doing one more week of Harry Potter before moving on to Tron in June.  Speaking of June, I’ll be at Heroescon in Charlotte, NC selling original art and doing sketches.  Hope to see you there.

Here’s Cho Chang for today’s warm up sketch.

9 X 12 in on Canson Paper   $30

Daily Sketch: Voldemort

I’m trying to get back to my theme, which is currently Harry Potter.  Though you might not know it from the last week of sketches.

If only evil came nose-less and carrying a large Python.  Maybe more people wouldn’t fall for it.

Daily Sketch: Dementors (Harry Potter)

Current Daily Sketch Theme: Harry Potter

Today we have the Dementors.  Does the guy at the bottom stand a chance?  Probably not as his patronus is an ant larva.

Free Comic Book Day is only a week away.  I’ll be at SSalefish Comics in Winston-Salem, NC.   Wherever you live, stop by your local comic shop and get some free comics.

Daily Sketch: Mad Eye Moody (Harry Potter)

Current Daily Sketch Theme: Harry Potter

Today we have Mad Eye Moody.  Who, as it turned out, was merely the 10th Doctor in disguise.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just nod and go on with your day.

Daily Sketch: Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter)

Daily Sketch: Draco MalfoyCurrent Daily Sketch Theme: Harry Potter

Today we have Draco Malfoy and a broom.  Draco grows up to work at a zoo, where he secretly tortures the monkeys when no one’s around. This leads to humanity’s enslavement to ape-kind.  Also, Charlton Heston shows up in there somewhere.

8.5 X 11 Ink on  Board   $30

Daily Sketch: Dumbledore (Harry Potter)

Daily sketch: Albus DumbledoreCurrent Daily Sketch Theme: Harry Potter

Today we have Albus Dumbledore.  He is not to be confused with Gandalf.  Because Gandalf wears a pointy hat and Dumbledore went with the little pseudo beanie just to emphasize the fact that he is not Gandalf.

A little known fact about his beard: It’s full of candy corn.

It’s not mentioned in the books, or movies, or in any interview with JK Rowling I’ve ever read, but I’m convinced that it’s only 40% whiskers layered over a solid wedge of this deplorable concoction.

Daily Sketch: Bellatrix Lestrange (Harry Potter)

Current Daily Sketch Theme: Harry PotterDaily Sketch: Bellatrix Lestrange

Here’s crazy old Bellatrix Lestrange.  I love the name Bellatrix.  As a synesthete, I like the fact that it’s yellow.

I’ll wait while you look up the word “synesthete”.

Good?  Okay, so in addition to her name being yellow her hair perfectly represents what’s going on in her mind.  I can’t remember if it’s described this way in the books, but it works perfectly as a visual for the character in the films.

This will round out the week — more sketches on Monday when we resume the Harry Potter theme.

And of course, I have to throw in the obligatory reminder for my twitter art giveaway.

Daily Sketch: Severus Snape (Harry Potter)

Daily Sketch: Severus SnapeCurrent Daily Sketch Theme: Harry Potter

Today we have Hans, I mean  Severus Snape.  Who just moved up to kidnapping from…sorry, who was head of Slytherin house and one of my favorite characters in Die…er…Harry Potter.

” Karl, schieß dem Fenster….Shoot.  The Glass.”

Okay, it’s out of my system now.

Don’t forget about my ongoing twitter art giveaway.
