Wall-E might be my favorite Pixar film. Again, like with Carl from yesterday’s Up sketch, he’s a big square. But unlike Carl he’s a big loveable square.  I think it’s the eyes, though, which are obviously…um…not square.
I’m not sure I liked yesterday’s watercolor experiment over Carl, so I won’t do it today. Although, I probably should use these sketches to get better at it. Today I just don’t have the time.





[...] This sketch was done with the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, and it definitely flavors the drawing. Â It’s a good pen, but it can take a little getting used to if you use a regular brush a lot. Â The brush tip is pretty durable in that it doesn’t fray, but it does have this super fine point that extends just a little longer than is typical of a traditional brush. Â If you’re not careful you’ll find stray marks on your drawing. Â Once you get used to it there’s no problem and eventually you can use it for different effects. Â It’s pretty good for getting whisper thin lines. Â If you drag the edge of it, you can get some decent dry brush effects (which is how I did the rust and dirt on WALL-E the other day.) [...]
