I hate it when I lose posts.  Stupid computer and servers.  I basically lamented the fact that a company I ordered paper from seemed to be dragging their feet until I emailed them about my order and then shipped it today...thus frustrating my plans for crazy productivity on issue 2 this week.  But I don't feel like retyping it all...

So instead I'll post what I have for sale on Ebay at the moment.

Buy it.  I need to go buy some milk.

I finally broke down and had to clean my studio up a little today.  I was getting tired of all this crap threatening to fall over and crush me to death.  I really do like things organized...unfortunately I don't seem to have the capability to keep them that way.  And the circle of clean, pile up, irritate, clean, pile up, irritate continues.

My computer also feels the need to restart with no warning.  I guess I need to reinstall windows, but that's just another thing to do that'll eat up some time...and I really don't feel like doing it.  So for now I'm just going to live around my computers hiccups.

Here in NC we had a little mid-march surprise snow day.  What that means is that we get an inch of wet snow that sticks mostly on the grass, school gets cancelled, and then by two o' clock in the afternoon there's not a trace of it left.  In two more days it will probably be sunny and 65.  Such is the way of things.

Not that I'm complaining.  This was the first snow we've had all winter.  Granted it took until almost spring to get here, but at least I got to see a little of the white stuff.  But, I think I'm ready for long days and green leaves.

Issue 1 is up for sale, in case you didn't know, and I'm well into issue 2 now.  Issue 2 makes me laugh, so I hope that's a good sign.

Well, back to it.

I hear that it was really nice outside today.  Too bad I didn't get to enjoy it because I was sick.  *insert grumbling here*

You know, I really really really really want to be excited about the new Star Wars movie.  Really.  But after that last little fiasco of poop known as Episode II, it makes me wonder if Lucas is just putting all his efforts into making really cool trailers instead of good movies.

But, like a fool, I'll probably let myself get psyched up during the weeks before and then let him stomp my anticipation into Bantha Fodder.

I'll be posting a full MegaCon 2005 review (with pictures) as soon as I'm able to dig out, but for now, I thought I'd share the names (and websites, where available) of a few of the many many great people we had opportunity to meet and chat with.

George Lowe The voice of Space Ghost - partially responsible for the birth of GravyBoy (I'll explain that one more fully later). We gave him water. Because... you know... he's a voice actor... They get thirsty,

Michael and Janet Gilbert - a comic book couple that have been in the business for years. We shared a table and quite a few anecdotes with them at the reception on Friday night. Janet has been doing work on widely distributed Disney titles since 1990 while Michael has done a variety of comics, including fan-favorite, Mr. Monster. I love to meet people as upbeat and joyful about life and their chosen profession as these two seem to be.

Marv Wolfman - This man's legacy is a testament to what good comic writing should be. He has written and edited for the big boys in the comics industry. He also co-created the Teen Titans for DC. He did a writing panel at the convention with Barbara Kesel (another great, by the way) and blew me away with the degree of knowledge he has about his craft. I also got to talk to him individually for a while on Saturday night about his views on the state of comics and writing in general. I would direct any aspiring comic book writer to Marv's What Th... page on his website and pay close attention to all the articles with a big red "WR" beside them.

Derrick Fish - creator of Dandy and Company, an online comic strip and comic book (also published through Comixpress). An all-around good guy to know. We've seen him around the Fanboy Radio board for a while and it was good to meet him in person.

Christian Baranek and Chris Burke of Silent Devil gave us a seat at the table and the scoop about their new projects. Christian's
Dracula vs. King Arthur is due to hit stores in the next few weeks.

We also met the fine people who run 01 (Zero One) Comics. (In fact, in the headiness of the moment, I may have agreed to an arranged marriage between my one-and-a-half-year-old son and their lovely daughter). 01 has a very unique marketing plan for comics online. As much as the fogies like myself need to have the printed book in hand to fully feel the comic book experience, I think something like this may be the future of comics (or at least a piece of it). With soaring printing costs and dropping tech prices, I'd watch them to make a big impact on the independent comics' scene.

Brian also got to meet and talk with Mark Sparacio, whose stellar paints you may recognize from the cover of Green Lantern #175. Mark is a super-nice guy and, as you can see on his site, an incredibly talented artist. He seemed really excited about GravyBoy and expressed some interest in doing a cover for us in the future.

Needless to say, MegaCon 2005 was a blast. There are so many more folks to mention, but I need to get to some projects so I can waste spend even more time on this later.

Well, I'm a little better rested now.  Except I think I'm coming down with a cold...again.  Apparently this area is saturated with germs.  The news says there are all kinds of bugs going around.  I'm one of the fortunate ones in that so far I've experience 4 of them, and am working on number 5.

Cons always get me charged up to draw.  Being surrounded by so many great artists inspires me to work harder at what I do.  I'm all juiced up about getting the next issue done, and hopefully I can get into a quicker pace.

Oh, issue 1 should be up for sale by tomorrow night.  (Maybe tonight, depending on how ambitious I am, but my wife will probably make me get some rest so I don't come down with the flu or the plague or something.)
