I'd like to take time on this little corner of the web to explain the whereabouts of a certain Mr. Gravyboy.
Do I reveal the minute details that have led to such a long hiatus? Do you care? Is it necessary? Mayhaps I will be able to give a condensed explanation.
Did you know we built up to a nationwide release through a magazine publisher, but were unable to get distribution through a certain comics distributor? Is that irony at work? Simple misfortune?
Did you know we were rejected twice from said distributor, with a form letters, marked both times with completely different reasons. And that the 2nd letter was sent not to us, but to a comic retalier who had written a letter saying how much he was selling out of GravyBoy? Furthermore, this letter from unnamed distributor stated that the current market would not support this book, in effect telling this professional retailer that he could not sell the book that he was, in fact, selling out of. Is this ironic under an Alanis Morrisette definition?
We got a lot of books printed. Beautiful, glossy, full-color, extra story added, and most of them still sitting in my guest bedroom. It's difficult to sell a comic through a magazine distributor. There's a lesson learned.
And yet, I still get email from people asking about the next issue. People I don't know. People on the other side of the country. In states I've never visited, thousands of miles away. GravyBoy has a fan base, you perhaps, who still await the next issue. Which is almost done.
But, when you spend years making the con rounds, then build up to a release that is thrown down and trampled upon by the faceless powers that be, it sets things back a ways. But never fear, the GravyBoy is not dead. The GravyBoy will return.
In the meantime, I've been drawing more of my income from comics. Paying work takes precedence. Those bills never get paid off. Water, light, gas...natural things that people still want me to send monthly checks for. Just because they send it to my house and I don't have to walk 3 miles a day to bring home.
But GravyBoy will return.
Soon. Perhaps you should start spreading the word about GravyBoy. Did you know you can read the first 3 books online at Wowio? You can. Send links to friends. Make them ask their comic shops for issues. One day, perhaps sooner than anyone expects, a plan for distribution and promotion will descend from the ever-elusive muse.
And GravyBoy will be as close as your local power company....for a mere fraction of the cost. _________________ Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil. - C.S. Lewis

Some of us might like to have the glossy, full color, extra story added versions... _________________ "After four pieces of prime rib, the goose is stuffed." --Goose

Yes but the real question is why are there only three issues on Wowio?
putting the fouth issue up cant possibly be that hard that you would be unable to do it after all this time that passed. He'll iv'e been able to write a comic, find an artist, get it drawn and put it on wowio( http://www.wowio.com/users/product.asp?BookId=5641
) in all the time you've had since you put the last one up there.
I know your busy but come on, how long could it take you to upload a comic to Wowio. Anyway i if you want to go the self publishing rout i can give you a site that may or may not help, they dont charge the regular manufacturing fees only taking a percentage of indevidual sales. This might be a good thing to consider if you deside to give up the indevidual issue format and publish gravyboy trade paperbacks,(which could work out for the better in the long term). anyway here's the website: https://www.createspace.com/Products/BooksOnDemand.jsp?ref=256590
Hope you get arround to adding GB4 to Wowio someday
